Detailed Information

The Boswell and District Farmers’ Institute is a community-based and all volunteer group established in 1919 and officially registered as a society in British Columbia in 1921.  Throughout our long history, our goals and mission statement have been focused upon improving the quality of life of residents of the east shore of Kootenay Lake.  We have a general membership of 120 plus persons and our board of directors is elected at an annual general meeting.  We fulfill our mandate in many ways but most visibly by maintaining and operating Mackie Park lakeside family recreation area, the Boswell harbour and free public boat launch and the Boswell cemetery.  The majority of our work is completed by community volunteers and is supported by donations and grants.
