RDCK Area A Economic Development Commission (EDC)
Join monthly meetings to have your say on economic development on the East Shore: EDC meetings are open to the public and are held from 2pm to 4:30pm at Boswell Hall the first Tuesday of the month, October through June. Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) Area A EDC catchment area extends from the village of Riondel, in the north, to the hamlet of Wynndel, in the south. This area is also known as Wynndel-East Shore.
About Area A EDC: The role of Area A EDC has been and still is as an advisory body to the RDCK Board. In the past EDC has been a disseminator of small financial grants given out to community organizations whose agendas have an economic development slant. Today Area A EDC has been leveraging these same EDC funds to secure large grants for local projects with the intent of stimulating the area’s economy. EDC members attend regional conferences and participate in regional collaborative initiatives on behalf of Area A. For more information please contact Chairperson Debby Johnson at 250-866-5657 or Area A Director Garry Jackman at 250-223-8463.
