One of the sites within, Kootenay Lake Provincial Park, Pilot Bay protects a 347 hectare scenic point and bay area. Visitors will find two sheltered anchorages, nine mooring buoys, tent sites, a day-use area with picnic tables, fire pits and pit toilets at the park. In land, there is a good trail system, a historic smelter and the Pilot Bay Lighthouse to explore. Walk-in backcountry camping is permitted in the park, but fee payment is required.
