One of the sites within, Kootenay Lake Provincial Park, Pilot Bay protects a 347 hectare scenic point and bay area. Visitors will find two sheltered anchorages, nine mooring buoys, tent sites, a day-use area with picnic tables, fire pits and pit toilets at the park. In land, there is a good trail system, a historic smelter and the Pilot Bay Lighthouse to explore. Walk-in backcountry camping is permitted in the park, but fee payment is required. Note that potable water is not available in this park. Windsurfing and waterskiing are also popular watersport at this location.
